Pinnacle Liquid Edition 5.5

Back to index of Professional Video Editing Software

The newest entry to the Pinnacle Liquid family combines the professional experience and esteemed broadcast heritage of the Pinnacle Liquid editing family with the plug-and-play power and ease of use of Pinnacle's Edition. See our review of the Pinnacle Edition 5.

Liquid Edition version 5.5 replaces Pinnacle Edition and Liquid purple, which will no longer be sold.

Pinnacle Liquid Edition uses the power of both the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) and the CPU (Processor) to perform up to 1000 real-time 2D and 3D effects, chroma & luma keys and up to 10 real-time streams. It offers pre-emptive rendering as with Pinnacle Edition, direct from the time-line DVD authoring with a range of wizards and templates.

New features:
  • Vastly improved primary and secondary colour correction facilities
  • Uses both CPU and GPU
  • "Dynamic Time Warp" i.e. dynamic motion control capability for that speeding up your clip and smoothly slowing it down again
  • The ability to use networked drives for direct playback and rendering. (Particularly useful to production houses already invested in Pinnacle's existing Liquid line of products)
  • Background rendering, direct rendering from the timeline etc as in the Pinnacle Edition
  • Pinnacle Liquid Edition also attaches directly to high performance Palladium Store systems and integrates with Vortex networked news systems
What we don't like:
  • No output to DLT
  • No hardware encoding to MPEG 2
  • No realtime previews via Firewire
  • No dual display option available on the AGP card

Pinnacle is also offering a Pinnacle Liquid Edition Productivity Pack, including Commotion Pro, Hollywood FX Pro, TitleDeko Pro and Impression DVD Pro.
