Digital Video
What is Digital Video?
Digital Video is video whose signal is captured in a format which is recognized by a computer.
Digital video is also referred to as non-linear video or computerized video. It is stored like all computer data i.e. in binary form. You
record in digital video formats when using a Hi8 or a DV
camcorder. Though the recording is stored on tape it is stored
in digital format and can be transferred to a PC.
The main advantages of digital video are that digital video does not degrade over time and there is no generation loss. No matter how many copies you make of the digital data there is no deterioration in the quality of your digital video clips. The
fact that digital video it is Non Linear and not
sequential is another major advantage.
The fact that it is stored in a format that computers can
understand does of course present several opportunities to edit, manipulate, clean up, and add special effects to your video clips.
